Pokémon GO launches Lapras event next week with a one-time Shiny chance

In a few days, the event “A Wise Hero” with Lapras will start in Pokémon GO. During the event you have a chance to get a pretty rare Shiny.

What is this event? In this short event you should help the team leader Blanche. Bonuses revolve around experience points and XL candies. There is a special research, a limited research and modified field research.

A Wise Hero: Event Featuring Lapras – Start, Content, Shiny

When is the event running? The A Wise Hero event starts on Thursday, April 13 at 10:00 local time. It will then be active until Monday April 17 at 20:00 local time.

What bonuses are there?

  • For evolving Pokémon, you get double the amount of XP
  • For developing Pokémon you get two guaranteed XL candies (Niantic on Twitter speaks of one guaranteed XL candy, in the blog post it says two. It is still unclear which number is correct. But you will receive at least one guaranteed XL candy per development )
  • Lure Modules that you activate during the event will last for three hours
    • Lapras wears this loop as an accessory and that makes it so special

    Rare Shiny on Special Research: You should help Blanche with the special research of the event. Successfully completing the research will grant you an encounter with Lapras wearing a Blanche-style accessory (a bow on his head). Niantic writes “this time of year it is only possible in this way”. And if you’re lucky, you’ll get a dazzling copy.

    So now you only have a chance to get a Lapras with a Blanche accessory as Shiny in this event this season. And every player obviously only has one chance at it. So this Lapras style could quickly become one of the rarest Shinys. That depends on how high the shiny chances are during the event.

    Further research: New Field Research you will receive during the event will revolve around evolving and catching Pokémon. You will be rewarded with stardust and development items.
