Pokémon GO launches Battle Day on Sunday, but it costs €1 to research

The next day of battle is coming up in Pokémon GO. You can find out here what the event will bring and what the 1-euro research is all about.

What is this event? Battle Days take place regularly in Pokémon GO and place a focus on the PvP league. The next one is called “GO Battle Day: Stardust”.

When is fight day? Battle Day will take place on Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 00:00 to 23:59 local time.

What does fight day bring? The main bonus is that you can complete 20 battle sets of 5 battles during the event instead of just the regular 5 allowed per day.

This means: You have 100 duels available to beat your way through the battle league. Here are our pro tips on how to be successful in Battle League.

You’ll also get 4x Stardust as a reward for each individual win (although this does not apply to the entire battle set, nor will it be combined with the 3x Stardust bonus of the Master League rotation weeks, so it will remain at 4x dust per win.)

Last but not least, there will also be an additional research. But that makes some coaches unhappy right now.

New research should cost one euro – what’s in it?

What is this research? This is a limited-time research that can already be purchased from the Pokémon GO in-game shop for €0.99. According to the announcement, it revolves around fighting and should bring a large amount of stardust.

Since the research has been in the shop, however, it has become clear that this is exactly 25,000 stardust. It also brings 3 special candies and 1 star piece. The exact process of the research is not yet known, but will only be available on May 14th.

However, some trainers wonder about the research. Because the last battle day research, such as the GO battle day: Viktor in the current season, as well as the two researches on the battle days in the “Mysterious Wishes” season, cost nothing on the one hand and also brought bonuses such as avatar items or a top loading TM.

In a post on the subject in the Pokémon GO subreddit, trainers are critical:

  • “Paying for stardust is ridiculous, no Pokemon encounter? Or a featured Pokemon for victories? That’s crazy.” (via reddit).
  • “When they announced that at the beginning of the season, I thought it was going to be a very large amount of stardust. But only 25k is ridiculous,” opines another (via reddit).
  • “Only 25k? That `s not worth it.” (via reddit).
  • Important: The ticket is not necessary for the day of the fight itself. You can get the additional battle sets and quadruple Stardust per win even if you don’t buy the ticket.
