August 13th is Community Day with Galar Zigzachs in Pokémon GO. The group bonus that should give you additional encounters with Geradaks has now been changed.
What is this bonus? For a few Community Days, Niantic has been rewarding you for playing in groups at a PokéStop. So you can unlock additional bonuses by catching enough Pokémon in one place.
So far, the Zigzachs Community Day should reward you with more Geradaks encounters. But the bonus has now been changed to more Stardust. Is that better or worse?
New Stardust Bonus at Community Day
This has changed: The group bonus was actually “If you catch enough Pokémon at a PokéStop with a decoy module, wild Galarian Geradaks will appear near the stop.” In the new version of the blog post, Niantic writes:
“If enough Pokémon are caught at a PokéStop with a Lure Module, the 3x Catch Stardust for trainers near that PokéStop will be increased to 4x Catch Stardust for 30 minutes.” However, this bonus does not stack with the existing ones triple bonus, but replaces it for 30 minutes.

Is that good or bad? In the social networks, trainers talk about the changes and note what is now changing in detail. “For this Community Day where there is a Stardust bonus, it was better to have a level 2 Pokemon. Because they give more stardust,” explains user mazumbado on reddit. Quadruple Bonus Zigzachs yield 400 Stardust per catch. Geradaks with a triple bonus, however, 900 stardust, writes the trainer.
However, it is unclear how the catch rates would have changed. Trainers speculate that it might have taken more time to catch a geradak.
On the other hand, trainers are happy that they now get more encounters with Galar Zigzachs and thus have more chances to catch Shinys. “I like to take more shiny checks than stardust,” writes user Handful4sure on reddit.
