In Pokémon GO, the big Hoenn tour will take place this weekend, and new Shinys shouldn’t be missing. We at MeinMMO will show you which dazzling monsters you can find in the game from then on and what your chances are of the special encounters during the event.
Which event is it about? On February 25th and 26th, 2023, the big worldwide Hoenn Tour will take place in Pokémon GO. This not only brings you numerous spawns from the 3rd game generation, but also offers you the chance to catch all the monsters of the Hoenn region as dazzling specimens for the first time.
For this reason, 14 monsters are celebrating their shiny debut at this event. We have summarized what they are and how you can find them below. We’ll also tell you at the end of the article what you need to know about the shiny rates.
All new shinys for the Hoenn tour at a glance
If you’re looking for shinys, then you shouldn’t miss the Hoenn tour. All Hoenn monsters that spawn wildly during the event, hatch from eggs or defend the arenas in raids can, with a bit of luck, also be caught as Shiny. You can meet the following Pokémon in their dazzling form for the first time:
We have summarized below where you can find these Pokémon during the event. In the order, we have based ourselves on the localities in the game.
Tuska and Noktuska
What are these Pokemon? During the Hoenn Tour, you can only catch the Grass-type Pokémon Tuska. In order to also secure Noktuska as Shiny, you can develop it further with the help of 50 candies.
You can find Tuska for the event at the following locations:
Walkers and masquerade
What are these Pokemon? The Beetle and Water Pokémon Gehweiher from the 3rd generation of games can also be caught as Shiny for the first time during the event. Just like Tuska, you need to evolve it in order to get Masquerain, which is the evolution of Goerweiher, as a dazzling specimen. You need 50 candies for this.
You can find walking ponds for the event at the following locations:
Swallow and swallow
What are these Pokemon? Another shiny debut is celebrated by Schluppuck and Schlukwech. To get it, you’ll need to keep an eye out for a Blue Gulpuck during the event. You can then develop this into Gulpwech with the help of 50 candies. Gulpwech does not spawn in-game for the Hoenn Tour itself.
You can find Schuppuck for the event at the following locations:
Qurtel, Tropius and Relicanth
What are these Pokemon? Qurtel, Tropius, and Relicanth are three regional Pokemon from the Hoenn region, none of which have any advancements or advancements. Usually, the three monsters can only be found in certain parts of the world.
For the Hoenn Tour, they are also available in game for the first time in their dazzling forms, which is why you shouldn’t miss them.
You can find Qurtel, Tropius and Relicanth for the event at the following locations:
Here we show you which other regional Pokémon are in the game and where you can get them.
Kecleon
What is this Pokemon? A monster that has only recently appeared in the game is Kecleon. The little chameleon has no advance or further developments.
With a bit of luck, the trainers were able to find dazzling specimens on the Hoenn tour in Las Vegas. The time has come for the worldwide Hoenn tour. Since it hides well, you should keep your eyes open for the little monster.
You can find Kecleon for the event at the following locations:
Primal Kyogre & Primal Groudon
What are these Pokemon? Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon are not only available in their dazzling forms for the first time worldwide, but the associated Proto-Raids have only been available for the live event of the Hoenn Tour in Las Vegas so far. Both Primal Pokémon are some of the best attackers of their kind, so they’re really worth it.
In order to trigger a development yourself, you must first collect so-called proto-energy in the corresponding raids. You can use this similar to Mega Energy with Kyogre and Groudon. As a result, after the raid you will “only” get an encounter with the normal forms of the two legendary monsters.
Although the original Shiny forms of Kyogre and Groudon have been in the game for some time, the new, special, temporary Proto-Evolutions are visually very different from the original Shinys.
You can find Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon at the following event locations:
We show you other strong attackers in Pokémon GO in the following video:
jirachi
What is this Pokemon? The mysterious Wish Pokémon Jirachi also makes its Shiny debut in the game. However, unlike all other monsters in the event, Jirachi gives you a chance of a guaranteed encounter with a dazzling specimen.
How to get Shiny Jirachi for the event: To get yourself a dazzling Jirachi, you can get the special research “Masterwork Research: Fulfilled Wish” in the in-game shop. This is available there for around 5.99 euros and guarantees you an encounter with a Shiny.
Unown H
What is this Pokemon? A monster that doesn’t belong to the Hoenn region at all, but shouldn’t be missing at such an event, is Unown. The 2nd generation Psychic Pokémon likes to be seen in its various forms on such occasions. The letter H will therefore play a role in the Hoenn Tour and should therefore be able to be caught in its dazzling form for the first time.
How to get Unown H for the event: Niantic has not yet officially announced where you can find Unown H during the event. In recent years, however, the Psychic Pokémon has spawned in the wild throughout the event. It is therefore obvious that this will also be the case for the Hoenn tour.
What are the Shiny chances for the Hoenn Tour?
You have to note that: Niantic often increases the shiny chances during such an event. Thus, it is then more likely that you will encounter a dazzling specimen. That should be a little different for the Hoenn tour this year. The developers made the following statement to the online magazine Dot Esports:
Selected Pokemon will have a chance to get a Shiny Boost. We want encountering a Shiny Pokémon to be an element of surprise, so we can’t go into details here.
Increased chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon were given to Trainers who had tickets to the Las Vegas Personal Event.

What does this mean for the shiny rate? Accordingly, there will be no generally increased shiny rate during the global Hoenn tour. As a result, this was only available at the live event in Las Vegas. With individual monsters, it should still be more likely that you will encounter a dazzling specimen at the weekend. However, it is currently not known what these are specifically and remains to be seen.
How do you like the new Shinys in Pokémon GO? Will you try to secure them? And which Shinys from the Hoenn region are still missing in your collection? Feel free to write it to us here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.
During the Hoenn Tour you have the opportunity to choose between different categories. We show you the differences between Team Ruby and Team Sapphire.
