So far, Mega Evolutions have not been a factor in Pokémon GO’s PvP Battle League. But that seems to be about to change.
This was announced: The Pokémon GO team shared a short teaser via the official Twitter channel. There is a seven-second scene from the PvP Battle League.
The video is quickly summarized: A trainer sends Kangama’s Mega Evolution into battle against a Turtok.
Only the phrase “More Mega Evolution surprises are coming your way” was released.
Much more is not yet known – but it’s enough to get coaches to speculate.
Mega evolution could turn meta into battle league
What does the teaser mean? Despite its brevity, the teaser seems quite clear: soon trainers will probably be able to use their mega developments in the battle league. This would make the megas a little more relevant after they have just been revised and become more interesting for many players.
It also fits that a battle day in the PvP battle league has been announced in Pokémon GO for May 29th, which includes a “mega surprise”, which has not yet been presented in detail. Here it is obvious that the teaser is related to this very day of the fight.
But how exactly the feature will be implemented in the battle league is still completely open.
This is what the community says: In the “TheSilphRoad” subreddit, trainers are already exchanging ideas about what the mega developments could mean for the battle league.
Depending on the league, the Mega versions of certain Pokémon could shake up the established monsters. Mega Gyarados in particular looks like a promising candidate for the Battle League. Mega Altaria is also an interesting monster for Battle League – after all, even its “normal” version is a popular Pokémon in PvP battles.
In addition, trainers also see the potential for Mega Beedrill to carve out a niche for itself in the Battle League where it might not last much, but could do a lot of damage.
And other monsters could also be exciting:
At the same time, it should be remembered that, as things currently stand, you only have limited access to Mega Developments and it becomes difficult to tinker with your own team over the course of a day.
In addition, there are still development restrictions if you haven’t already collected enough Mega Energy for the first Mega Development. This is another reason why some players wish that there might be more tasks that offer mega energy as a reward.
Meanwhile, the mega announcement is not the only new development in Pokémon GO. The free Fernraid passes from the weekly boxes are history – and now there is the first box that brings alternative items.
