Gifts in Pokémon GO recently got an improvement that helped with full item bags. But now it seems to have disappeared.
What was that improvement? The function was called “Open gifts when the item bag is full”.
This ability allowed you to open gifts from friends even if you ran out of space for items. Then there was only stardust as a reward, but only 50 units.
The advantage of this was that you could advance the friendship level even if you were full of items and didn’t want to delete old items. There was also a bit of stardust that you wouldn’t want to do without. This is especially useful when you open a lot of presents.
Some trainers spotted this feature in their game on July 23 (via reddit). Similar to the new save ball feature, it could be enabled or disabled in the settings menu.
But this function is apparently no longer available.
Where is the gifts feature now?
The PokeMiners explained via Twitter that the function was apparently deactivated for all accounts on August 12th.
The Pokeminers are a group of dataminers who regularly look for innovations and features in the Pokemon GO code. They keep causing leaks, which often show in advance of an event or something similar what the players could expect.
Nothing is known about possible reasons for the removal. As soon as there is something new here, we will keep you informed. In any case, there is currently no corresponding function in the game. If you now open a gift with a full bag, you get the following screen:
The curious thing is that the feature was removed before all players could even use it. Some didn’t even know it was an option. Whether and when she will come back remains to be seen.
What was it like with you? Did you have the opportunity to test the function? Is it maybe still available with you? Tell us in the comments.
Next up in Pokémon GO is a special Pokémon World Championships event. You can find out everything about the World Championship event here.
