Pokémon GO: Guide to Community Day with Igamaro

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In Pokémon GO, Community Day is on January 7th with Igamaro and various bonuses. In the guide you will learn everything about the event content and how you can use it.

What is this event? Community Day takes place every month and always focuses on a specific Pokémon. This monster will then appear throughout the wild throughout the event.

In addition, the chances of getting the Shiny variant of the Pokémon are increased during this period and there are various bonuses that you can claim.

After the big throwback C-Day in December with many monsters at once, a single Pokémon is on the program again in January: Igamaro, the plant starter from the 6th generation, gets its own Community Day.

We have summarized everything important about the event here.

Special raids after the event: From 17:00 to 22:00 there will be an additional opportunity to face Igamaro’s evolution Igastarnish in Tier 4 Raids.

Winning these raids activates a bonus that spawns more Igamaro in the area for 30 minutes. The shiny chance is just as great here as on the actual Community Day.

Important: You can only complete these raids on site, long-distance raid passes cannot be used.

Who is the Community Day with Igamaro worthwhile for?

Can Igamaro be Shiny? Yes, you can catch the Shiny version on Community Day. So the event is definitely something for shiny hunters who want to add a new specimen to their collection.

The Shiny Family by Igamaro

How strong is Igamaro? Igamaro himself doesn’t play a big role, but his last development Brigaron with “Flora Statue” is a good option as a plant attacker against raids.

It’s still being overtaken by top plant attackers in Pokémon GO like the Ultra Beast Katagami, Mega Gewaldro, and Mega Venusaur, legendary monsters like Zarude or Tapu Toro, or various Crypto variants. Apart from such special monsters, however, it is a very good, strong choice.

Accordingly, it’s worth collecting a few well-rated specimens if you still have room on your own Plant Assault team.

How to take advantage of Community Day with Igamaro – Preparation & Items

Prepare space: If you’re looking to catch lots of Igamaro, make room in your Pokémon Stash.

The filter function is useful for this: For example, if you enter the search terms “0*, 1*, 2*”, only monsters with 2 stars or worse will be displayed. Send the monsters you no longer need to make room for Igamaro specimens.

Evolves a Mega Pokémon: If you have a Mega Pokémon of the same type as Igamaro active, you’ll get additional candies again.

In the case of Igamaro, that’s the plant type. So it’s worth it:

  • Mega Venusaur
  • Mega Squadro
  • Mega Rexblisar
  • Which items are worthwhile for Community Day with Igamaro?

Ensures empty incubators: As a rule, the next egg is placed in the incubator immediately after hatching one. If you are still running eggs, make sure that your incubator is empty at the start of the event – because then you can secure four times the incubation speed.

Community Day with Igamaro is the ideal time to hatch larger eggs like the 7, 10, or 12 km egg, or to “work off” several eggs in a row.

In addition to the Pokémon, the eggs also bring Stardust and XP – so you can collect a little here on the side.

pineapple berries: You already get double catch candies, but you can double the number per catch with pineapple berries. This is worth it if you want to develop or level up several Igamaro.

Smoke & Lure Modules: These items attract more Igamaro. The smoke is worth it if you travel a lot and move around, while the Lure Module will lure stationary Pokémon to a PokéStop. Since they both last for 3 hours, you only need to ignite one of the event items.

Balls: You should definitely have enough balls in stock before you run out during the event. Hyperballs in particular are worthwhile so that you don’t need too many attempts to catch them.
