The two new ultra beasts Kaguron and Katagami, which can be found in different regions in the raids, have been available in Pokémon GO for a few days. For a moment it looked like they were swapping hemispheres, at least part of the time—but that was a mistake.
Update, September 15, 2022, 7:45 p.m.: Niantic’s current Season of Light blog post briefly announced that the two monsters would swap hemispheres at Raid Hour on September 21, 2022. Then Katagami would have appeared in the south, Kaguron in the north.
This was a mistake, however, because both monsters are now being announced in their regular habitats again. The blog now reads: “21. September. Start: 6 p.m. (local time). End: 7 p.m. (local time). Kaguron appears in Tier 5 Raid Battles in the Southern Hemisphere. Katagami appears in level 5 raid battles in the Northern Hemisphere” (via pokemongolive).
Niantic Support also reported officially on Twitter:
Trainers, we would like to confirm that Katagami will appear in the Northern Hemisphere and Kaguron in the Southern Hemisphere during Raid Hour. Please note that they will not swap hemispheres as previously stated. We apologize for the confusion.

So the hope of being able to grab a Kaguron from a local raid at least on this date was premature. As things stand, only Katagami will continue to show up – and Kaguron may still have to wait in long queues.
Here is the original message. We have removed the erroneous information about the Kaguron date in the northern hemisphere.
What are these Pokemon? Since September 13, 2022, there are two new Ultra Beasts in Pokémon GO: Kaguron and Katagami. Unlike most other raid bosses, both can only be found in certain regions.
So Kaguron can currently only be found in the level 5 raids in the southern hemisphere and Katagami occupies the 5 raids in the northern hemisphere.
You can find the best counters against Kaguron and Katagami in our counter guides below:
What are Ultra Beasts?
The Ultra Beasts are mysterious Pokémon that enter the world of Pokémon GO via Ultra Gates from other dimensions. As part of the GO Fest 2022 you were able to secure Anego, Schabelle, Masskito and Voltriant.
Are long-distance raid passes even worth using? Kaguron is a Flying and Steel Pokémon from the 7th generation of games, which can only have average values. Additionally, his move set isn’t the best either. While it has two fast Steel Charged Attacks, Iron Skull and Ram Boss, it doesn’t have a Fast Attack of the same type.
It is similar with his type Flight. Here it can rely on the Fast Attack Air Slash, but has no Flying Charge Attack. So it is rather uninteresting for the GO battle league and in raids. Here you should rather rely on one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
So if you want to secure Kaguron primarily for the Pokédex, you can safely wait for the raid hour next Wednesday and save the long-distance raid passes for other monsters.
You can see a selection of the best attackers in Pokémon GO in the following video:
Are there other dates where we have Kaguron? No, looking at the Pokémon GO blog, it is clear that there are no plans to change the two for the time being.
Kaguron remains in the Southern Hemisphere and Katagami in the Northern Hemisphere. There you can still challenge it in the level 5 raids until September 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
However, it remains to be seen whether the two ultra beasts will return to the raids at a later date and then switch regions for a longer period of time. If there is any new information about this, you will find out from us on MeinMMO.
How do you like the outlook for the upcoming raid hour? Have you secured Kaguron using the Remote Raid Passes yet? Let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO.
Not only Kaguron is currently a big topic in the community. Trainers are having trouble catching Katagami. We explain to you what it’s all about.
