Just a few hours after the second release of Zorua in Pokémon GO, Niantic has to pull the emergency brake again. This time, the Pokémon will remain in the game, but you won’t be able to connect your GO Plus and other Bluetooth devices for now.
Why can’t I connect GO Plus? Niantic had to disable Bluetooth devices like the Poké Ball Plus and GO Plus. They caused problems when Zorua was captured with them.
This is the second huge problem related to the new “Ditto-Pokémon” Zorua. With the first planned release, the Pokémon was deactivated again after a few hours. Since October 28th you can catch Zorua in Pokémon GO and only a short time later trainers noticed a crazy bug.
Giratina in Super League – GO Plus and Poke Ball disabled
This is the bug: Shortly after Zorua’s release, Trainers caught many of the new Pokémon and happily shared their catches with the community. But it quickly became apparent that something was wrong with the second release of Zorua.
Players caught Legendary Pokémon using the GO Plus and other auto-catchers that connect via Bluetooth. That’s not really a problem. However, they did not transform back into Zorua as planned, instead remaining in the “disguised” form.
If caught with a Bluetooth device, Zorua would remain in the morph and not morph back into Zorua. This gave Pokemon like Giratina with very few CP points. So it was possible to duplicate Legendary Pokémon and Mythical Pokémon and use them in PvP tournaments with 500 or 1,500 WP. Also in the super league. It really shouldn’t be possible to catch certain Legendary Pokemon with so little CP that they fit the Super League limit.
Trainers post videos of them competing with Giratina in Superliga. We embed one of them with a tweet here:
There are also other bugs, such as captured Zorua not ending up in the trainer’s collection with their full life points.
Also, with some trainers, Giratina simply doesn’t transform as a buddy Pokémon at all, but stays in its actual form.
Zorua was supposed to be released on Tuesday, but the catches were way too strong:
You won’t meet Zorua, the “Ditto-Pokémon” in Pokémon GO today after all [Update]
Niantic had to intervene for the second time
How Niantic reacts: The second release of Zorua was supposed to be completely different:
1:04 AM Trainers, we’re temporarily disabling Bluetooth devices like the Poké Ball Plus and Pokémon GO Plus while we’re investigating an issue with Zorua. We will provide an update once this functionality is restored.
01:12: Please note that any zorua that is posing as your buddy and has not transformed after being caught will transform back into a zorua in the future. Thank you for your understanding.
01:34: The following Pokémon are temporarily unavailable in Super League: Giratina, Yveltal, Dialga, Palkia, Landorus, Kyogre, Groudon, Darkrai, Xerneas

This is how the chaos surrounding the release of Zorua takes its course. Trainers also already know tricks for keeping the mistakenly caught Pokémon that didn’t transform. They send them into the Pokémon HOME system. They hope that the Pokemon inside won’t transform back then.
Were you still able to use the error on the night of October 29th or were you just wondering why the GO Plus didn’t work?
