Do you like collecting Shinys in Pokémon GO? Then don’t miss the next research day.
What is a research day? These events occur every now and then in Pokémon GO. Here you have to collect field research from PokéStops in order to get certain event monsters. Some of them then have an increased chance of being shiny.
When is the research day? The next research day will be on September 22, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What are the event Pokémon? The two main Pokémon of the event are Commander and Quartermak. Quartermak is even appearing as a shiny for the first time ever – and with an increased chance of the shiny Pokémon. The increased shiny chance also applies to Commander.
There are also other monkey-like event Pokémon on the way. We’ll show you all the information here.

How do I get the shinies? Kommandutan and Quartermak will be in the event research you get when you spin PokéStops, so plan on taking longer walks to get past as many stops as possible to get more chances at the Shiny.
Once you have solved the research, you will encounter one of the two Pokémon, whose shiny variants will be much easier to find at this event than usual.
Are Kommandutan and Quartermak worth it? For shiny collectors, definitely. Not so much as fighters: In raids, the two are negligible as attackers, as there are much better options among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
In PvP, Kommandutan is most likely to have a place in the Hyper League. Quartermak, on the other hand, also largely fails here.
So, especially if you want to expand your shiny collection, this day is worth it.
Pokémon in the wild: You will encounter the following Pokémon in the wild. Possible shinies are marked with an asterisk*. Please note: There is no increased chance of shiny with these Pokémon.
The shop also offers a ticket that costs 2 US dollars. The price in euros should be in a similar range. If you buy it, you will receive a limited-time research in which you will also encounter Kommandutan and Quartermak with an increased chance of shiny. However, it is only valid during the event period.
