The host community payment for April to June was based “on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is consistently applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site,” OLG said in a release .
Point Edward has traditionally used the bulk of its casino revenue for capital projects, but part of the money also goes into the village’s operating budget.
The village has received more than $52.6 million since the casino opened in April 2000, the OLG release said.
“Investing OLG’s profits back into host government communities is another example of our continued efforts to strengthen local infrastructure and community programs,” said Stan Cho, Ontario’s minister of tourism, culture and gaming.

Sarnia received $108,801 for the same period for playing host to Gateway Casino Sarnia, a slots casino located at Hiawatha Horse Park, OLG said.
Starlight Casino Point Edward is a larger venue with gaming tables as well as slot machines.
Since the slots site in Sarnia opened in May 1999, the city has received more than $27.7 million, OLG said.
Both locations are operated by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment.
