Xavier Yvon: While preparing this episode, I looked for a definition that I was sure I had in stock in La Loupe’s cupboard. However, I did not find it on the “energy” shelf, nor on that of the episodes directly or indirectly related to the theme of housing. I realized the obvious: in a year and a half of podcasts devoted in particular to the climate transition, we still had not defined the concept of “thermal sieve”. But we can’t do without for this episode, so I asked Philippine Robert, from the Economy department of L’Express, to join me from the introduction, hello Philippine!
Filipina Robert : Hi !
Xavier Yvon : Better late than never… Can you give us the precise definition of this term?
Filipina Robert : I can, and indeed, we will need it. A thermal sieve is a colorful term that designates particularly energy-intensive homes, because they consume a lot of heating, are very poorly insulated, or both. For all dwellings there is an energy performance diagnosis (DPE) and a score between A and G, which is compulsory for selling or renting. The sieves are housing F and G and the State wants to gradually limit their presence on the rental market (to force them to work).
Xavier Yvon : It’s impeccable, thank you Philippine, I put it away in the cupboard, in the right place for the next time. Our listeners now have a good clue to guess our topic of the day. I distill a few others: the temperatures which are already close to negative values in certain regions and the specter of possible power cuts this winter… And if we put together the pieces of the Philippine puzzle, it gives….
Filipina Robert : Energy renovation!
Xavier Yvon : And more particularly the government aid system “MaPrimeRenov'”, supposed to convince the owners of these famous “strainers” to take the plunge of the works. In France, the ambitions in this area are very high… And the results rather very disappointing.
