Maxime Recoquille: Yes I arrived a little early on purpose to prepare for today’s episode
Xavier Yvon: But what are you doing ? We’re supposed to talk about the future of cryptocurrency, not lead a police investigation… Why are you hanging up lots of portraits in the studio? Looks like a wall of suspects…
Maxime Recoquille: Don’t worry, I haven’t gone crazy. We are going to talk about cryptos. But rather than settle for the usual guesswork, I had an idea: it’s to tell you about who will make (or break) this industry.
Xavier Yvon: That’s to say ? Entrepreneurs, engineers?
Maxime Recoquille: Take it easy Xavier, I’m not going to divulge everything to you now. Come on, I’ll give you a clue anyway: I’m going to give you the name of a man who is NOT part of my portrait gallery
Xavier Yvon: Uh okay. And who is it ?
Maxime Recoquille: Someone we already talked about in La Loupe: Satoshi Nakamoto.
Xavier Yvon: Oh I remember! He is the creator of Bitcoin.
Maxime Recoquille: Exactly, he created this technology in 2009. Except that Satoshi Nakamoto, we don’t know what he looks like, where he comes from, if he is one or more people. In fact, we don’t even know if it really exists. And if he exists, we haven’t heard of him, or seen his messages on forums for more than ten years!
Xavier Yvon: Indeed, not very practical to draw a portrait… But why did you still want to talk to me about him?
Maxime Recoquille: If I’m talking to you about him, it’s because in fact we always need characters to structure an environment. Certainly, cryptocurrencies defend an idea: decentralization. But in the end, people are always attached to trust in a human person. Except that today, the world of digital currencies is orphaned by its very first creator, Satoshi Nakamoto… And so we need to turn to other important figures to take an interest in the future of cryptos.
