“But we are going a bit too far,” says Lintmeijer about the sixteen parties in the Utrecht city council. “So I think I am gradually shifting a bit. Maybe you should introduce some kind of threshold. If you have 45 parties, then everyone will have a say in society. Whether that is still manageable, I don’t know.” He refers to the sixteen parties that are now in the Utrecht city council, and the trend, also in Utrecht, of council members splitting off from existing parties.
