(Finance) – The verification of the achievement of the objectives and targets relating to the sixth installment will be at the center of a new meeting of the Control Room for the PNRR convened by Minister for European Affairs, the South, Cohesion Policies and the PNRR Raffele Fitto for Monday 24 June at 11 am in the Sala Verde of Palazzo Chigi in the presence of President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni.
“We are working to respect the deadlines of June 30th for the definition of the request for payment of the sixth installment which includes a meeting to define the achievement of the objectives, which we will do respecting the deadlines therefore by next week – he said Thick –. Secondly, we are also defining the final aspects of the fifth installment to verify the objectives and also have the payment. This clearly places us as the country that is objectively ahead, as the European Commission indicated in its report both in terms of number of objectives achieved and implementation phase. In recent days we have had a very important meeting for four days of the European Commission, we have had a discussion with all the central administrations with all the stakeholders, the trade organisations, the social partners, and – he added – we have had the opportunity to verify a lot positively this work that has been carried forward. So I would like to say that the collaboration with the European Commission, the implementation that we have put in place with the revision of the plan and also all the measures, starting from the law decrees that we have put in place on the simplification and implementation, they are delivering a result of which we are proud and on which, however, there is still a lot to do”.
Regarding the position expressed by Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti on the possibility of extending the deadlines for the implementation of the works of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan beyond June 2026 Thick he stated that it is “a legitimate debate” but – he added – “we have a deadline which is June 2026 and we are focusing on that”.
Given the peremptory deadline of 2026 to complete the national recovery and resilience plans “we need to urgently intervene on the bottlenecks and speed up the implementation plans” stated the Vice President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis in the press conference at the end of the Ecofin. For its part, the EU Commission has worked with the aim of having “more flexibility on changes to the plans – he added – and to provide clarifications on their combination with other types of financing”.
