PNRR MiTE over 90 hydrogen research and development projects presented

(Finance) – The Ministry of Ecological Transition received over 90 project proposals in research and development on hydrogen for a total value that exceeds 240 million euros, almost 5 times the financial endowment made available by the Pnrr. The data testify to the strong interest in developing research on green hydrogen, which is strategic for theto decarbonization and fundamental nel changed geopolitical context to help achieve energy independence from Russia and accelerate the ecological transition, priority objectives reaffirmed by the European Commission with the plan REPowerEU.

Investment 3.5 (M2C2) of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan awards 30 million euros to private companies and 20 million to public research bodies with the aim of financing the study on hydrogen from renewable sources, improving knowledge of the related technologies in all phases (production, storage and distribution).

The Mild, in particular, it received 39 fundamental research proposals in response to the call for proposals addressed to research institutions and universities, with a request for 116 million euros compared to the 20 million made available by the PNRR. The projects presented in this context aim at the acquisition of new theoretical and experimental knowledge on frontier issues ranging from the development of technologies for the production of green hydrogen to its transformation into derivatives and green fuels, from the development of fuel cells to storage systems. and transport of hydrogen.

For the call for tenders for companies, instead, 56 industrial research projects were presented, for 126 million euros against a budget of 30 million euros. Research and development contracts will come awarded by the end of June 2022.
