(Finance) – Il December 30, there European Commission received from the Italian Republic the seventh payment request within the scope of National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr). The total amount requested amounts to 21 billion euros, of which 5.3 billion in grants and 15.7 billion in loans. This tranche is about achieving 67 goals and objectives set by the plan.
According to what was communicated by the community executive, the funds will be allocated to a wide range of interventions. Among these, reforms aimed at environmental sustainabilityat the modernization of justice and of public administrationand to the improvement of waste management. Other strategic sectors include renewable energy, tackling energy poverty, climate adaptation, sustainable transport and education.
On the front of digitalisationthe request includes significant investments in the cyber and digital security of the public administration. These interventions aim to make institutions more resilient and ready to face the challenges of the digital transition.
The European Commission will now evaluate the achievement of the stages and objectives linked to the requestand will subsequently submit a preliminary assessment to approve the disbursement. Overall, the Italian Pnrr provides for a total financing of 194 billion eurosintended to support the country’s economic recovery and resilience through investments and structural reforms.
The advancement of this seventh request highlights the Italian government’s commitment to respecting the objectives of the planfacing the challenges of the green and digital transition with determination.
