PM calls for help to deal with influx of Sudanese

In Chad, the government is seeking support and assistance from technical and financial partners to enable it to deal with the influx of Sudanese refugees into its territory. The Prime Minister of the transitional government, Saleh Kebzabo addressed the diplomatic corps on Saturday.

The Chadian Prime Minister began his intervention by recalling the migratory situation in the east of the country. “Chad is currently hosting more than 400,000 Sudanese refugees in the east. The mobilization of the international community, in the face of the humanitarian tragedy and the distress experienced by our Sudanese refugee brothers and sisters, is not up to the level of the mobilization observed under other skies “, insisted Saleh Kebzabo.

Appeal to the international community

The Prime Minister therefore took the opportunity to appeal to the international community. The government of the Republic of Chad is seeking support and massive technical and financial assistance from the countries and organizations represented here. This appeal is also addressed to all Chadians of good will and to non-governmental organizations, as well as to economic operators. », launched Saleh Kebzabo.

Urgency of the situation

The head of the Chadian government thus recalled the urgency of the situation. It is more urgent that an international conference or a round table on the mobilization of funds to help Chad face the multiple challenges related to the management of refugees in this period of onset of the rains, be convened very quickly. These funds, support or aid, allowed psychosocial, food, health, educational, installation or accommodation care”.
