Shiny Pokémon are very popular in Pokémon GO. But some trainers find that not all shinys are equally cool.
Finding a Shiny in Pokémon GO is always a highlight. The rare monsters with the modified coloring are very popular with collectors and add variety to your own Pokémon collection.
But while some Shinys are very different from their “normal” versions, others are only changed to a very limited extent. It’s almost only because of the small “glitter” effect that you notice that it’s a shiny at all.
And there is another shiny trap: namely monsters that can develop into “uncool” shinys. Trainers are currently discussing the topic in the Pokémon GO subreddit.
Trainer advises: Better check Shiny Pokémon before evolving
What is the problem? In the Pokémon GO subreddit (via reddit), user “TheHammer8989” tells of a Shiny Chansey – and a regretted development: “I made the mistake of developing a dazzling Chansey. It looked a lot cooler as Chansey. Its evolved form looks almost the same as the normal one,” reports TheHammer 8989 in the comments, asking, “Are there any other Pokemon I shouldn’t evolve?”
In addition, another player reports and says he has experienced the same thing with Chaneira: “I seriously thought the game forgot that it was Shiny” (via reddit).
Here you can see what Chansey, his pre-development Wonneira and the further development Heiteira look like:
A lot of trainers respond to the original question, and the post has already collected over 300 comments. There, players give various tips on which Shiny Pokémon they would rather have left in their previous form during development.
We show you a few examples here:
Bummelz: Shiny-Bummelz should already have some players who have been there longer. In the summer of 2019, it had its Community Day, giving many players a chance to snag it. February 2023 is another spotlight hour if you want to try your luck.
However, you should consider whether you want to further develop Shiny-Bummelz into Muntier or Letarking. The previous top answer in the thread says: “Let Bummelz remain a Bummelz” (via reddit). We show you the differences here:
chewing malate: Knakrack is also criticized in the thread, some players consider his pre-developments Kaumalat and Knarksel to be cooler Shinys (via reddit). However, Garchomp has the argument that it is one of the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO.
snubbull: A user brings up Snubbull and gets encouragement for it, a user even says: “Shiny Granbull is the worst Shiny in the game” (via reddit). Another user says it looks developed, like it’s lost its fur (via reddit).
You can judge for yourself here:
Enton: Enton is also mentioned and receives encouragement (via reddit). Some users apparently think this is more stylish than the Entoron development:
Larvitar and Pupitar: While Larvitar and Pupitar are quite popular in the discussion, Despotar’s latest development has been criticized: “Super disappointing,” says one user (via reddit).
More monsters appear in the discussion. For example, some players are not fans of Gengar, which from their point of view hardly differs from the “original”, but at least in the mega form it makes a clear difference. Pokémon such as Dragoran, Magnezone or some Eevee developments are also mentioned.
When developing shinys, a bit of curiosity can play a role in what color a monster will evolve into – but then you also have a risk: “Check the shiny version of the Pokémon you want to evolve,” advises a trainer ( via reddit): “This saved me from some annoying developments.”
In the end, it’s a matter of taste which shiny ones you find cool and which ones you don’t. Which shiny Pokemon do you think are particularly chic? And with which monsters have you already experienced that you might not have developed it after all? Tell us in the comments!
