The Elden Ring DLC also brought some new Spirit Ashes into the game. These NPC helpers can save you some nerves when fighting bosses. The community is particularly fond of one of them.
What are ghost ashes? As a refresher: Ghost Ashes are optional helpers in the form of NPCs that you can call in boss fights and sometimes in the open world.
These include some of the mini-bosses such as Bloodhound Knight Dariiwil or the infamous Mimic Ash. The latter imitates your character and has the same equipment and stats. It is particularly powerful, provided your build is strong.
With the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, new spirit ashes have been added to the game. You may have overlooked one of them or picked it up without ever using it. But the community thinks: give the ashes a chance, it’s worth it.
A little guy with a big gun
Which ash are we talking about? User KishudarK promotes the “Bigmouth Wimp Bag” on Reddit. He reminds other players that this ash exists and highlights its qualities. It can easily unbalance opponents, attacks from a distance and can also take a few hits.
The special thing about the Loudmouth is that it shoots bombs from a cannon that is also its head. Enemies hit by it fly back from the explosion and often land on their backside.
The little guy with the cannon looks harmless at first. But players who have been through the catacombs of Elden Ring know him as a standard enemy and know that this enemy can get you into a lot of trouble.
Small but mighty is the motto, which also applies to the ghost ash. Once you have upgraded it, it can support you in the tough boss fights and provide some variety to the mimic ash.
What do other players think about it? Not all players know about this ghost ash – partly because it is hidden in the Darklight Catacombs in the DLC. However, those who have tried it out are impressed:
Many players write that they often died because of this enemy. Finally being able to use him as a helper in battle feels good.
Of course, this assumes that you are playing with Spirit Ashes at all. After all, there are enough players who would rather tackle Elden Ring without additional help. This can sometimes be quite difficult, especially in the DLC. But a YouTuber has now shown that you can defeat the bosses with just a single hit.
