If you choose a new class for your companions in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can discover new voice lines. MeinMMO tells you what’s behind them.
What is behind it? In Baldur’s Gate 3, your companions already have predefined classes that match their individual backstories. For some, it’s unthinkable not to play Astarion as a rogue, as the class just suits him well. But players have now discovered that the RPG has a wealth of additional voice lines available when you switch classes with your companions.
Her rage scream is one of the best
What does the whole thing look like? For example, if you don’t play Shadowheart as a cleric but as a barbarian or bard, there are your own voice lines. Each of your barbarian companions’ screams of rage sound different. Even if you cast Spiteful Taunt as a bard, each companion has their own jokes.
Spoiler: Warning, there are spoilers about the story of Shadow Heart.
What does the community say? One player reports on Reddit about a run in which he made Shadowheart a Barbarian: Her rage scream is one of the best, and it really felt like she was unleashing 4 decades of trauma on Viconia’s head.
Other players praise the performance of Jennifer English, the voice actress of Schattenherz – The voice actress did her best.
You can see it for yourself here. YouTuber Saretz shared a video on YouTube that shows all the rage screams from every single companion:
There are also comments on other characters such as Astarion and Gale, with some players praising Astarion’s efforts while others find his scream less convincing.
And if you want to play your companions as bards, you can throw your own nasty comments around. Saretz also shared a video of this on YouTube, which you can also watch here:
Among other things, your companions then say the following:
Small note: Some of them are probably the same even if you play the bard yourself. But the voice actors definitely put a lot of effort into it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is already known for the many voice lines that give the game a lot of depth. But the discovery takes things even further. It’s nice to see how even such small details in the game create so much excitement. Do you know of any other classes where this is the case? Feel free to write it in the comments. Did you already know that? All of your companions have their own phrase in case they need to throw a space hamster
