For Thursday, July 6th, Blizzard had announced a big live stream for Diablo: The fans mainly expected information about Diablo 4. But the show started very differently.
This was the situation:
This is their complaint: There is a thread on reddit with almost 9,000 upvotes, where people are annoyed that in the large live stream Blizzard employees tried to use the huge interest in Diablo 4 and Season 1 to promote their allegedly unpopular mobile Promote the game Diablo Immortal.
Of the 90 minutes of the stream, about the first 20 minutes were devoted to the game Diablo Immortal.
The Dotesports website even speaks of a “Trojan horse”: Diablo 4 was used to smuggle information about Diablo Immortal to many players.
How are the reactions? The most popular comment on the thread is:
Why is the game so hated? It’s solely because of the micro-transactions that Diablo players are so hostile to Immortal.
Again and again it is said that it is actually a good game, but infested with micro-transactions and a terrible Pay2Win torment.
A player says. “Trade offer – YOU get a little shot of dopamine – I get: all your money.”
A second user says clearly. “I refuse to play this game.”
How would it have been better from the player’s point of view? Diablo 4 players wish that Blizzard had either left the Immortal part out of the stream entirely, or at least put it at the end instead of the beginning to make it easier to skip. It would be better if you just separate the streams.
But you can’t really blame Blizzard: at least they were transparent and already said on June 30 how the stream would run and that Diablo Immortal would start.
