A bug has emerged in League of Legends that affects players accidentally purchasing jungler items while playing in a lane. This results in them receiving less experience points in LoL for the rest of the game.
What bug is this? League of Legends has always had annoying bugs, but players have now discovered one that can cost you the round. The bug occurs if you accidentally buy an item that is actually intended for junglers when you start the game.
Even if you sell the item you bought again, it won’t save you because, according to the thread, you will now receive fewer experience points for the rest of the game.
One wrong purchase and your round is over
How exactly does the bug come about? To trigger the bug, certain conditions must be met: You have selected Smite as your summoner spell. Summoner spells are chosen before the round begins.
If you don’t play as a jungler but are deployed in one of the lanes, all you’re missing is the last step to seal your fate. If you accidentally buy an item out of habit that is actually intended for a jungler, your round could be over.
How did the bug come to light? A player reported the incident in a League of Legends subreddit. He actually wanted to play top lane, but accidentally used Smite as a secondary summon spell.
Some players also use Smite as part of a sophisticated strategy in other lanes, meaning this could become a bigger problem.
Other players describe similar problems in the thread on Reddit or have reproduced exactly this bug and confirm the previously described incident. A player described in the thread that this bug cost him the midlane.
What’s next? Riot Games has already acknowledged the error and is already working on a solution. There is nothing described about the bug in the latest Patch Notes 14.8 on their website, so it remains to be seen when the bug will be fixed.
Riot usually responds very quickly to players’ bug reports. However, sometimes they also deal with criticism from the community in a surprisingly humorous way. You can read more about it here:
