When players take to the barricades, they achieve something. This can now be seen in Apex Legends: EA’s extremely successful shooter angered the community with a change and now has to scale it back after angry players drove the Steam reviews of Apex Legends into the basement.
What was the change? The Battle Pass for Apex Legends should be significantly more expensive. We have reported on this several times on MeinMMO:
Developers reverse changes and admit errors
This is the latest development: In a post on Steam dated July 24, 2024, the developers explain that they have heard the community. The Premium Battle Pass will continue to be available for 950 Apex Coins.
The developers say: We should have communicated the changes better – that was our mistake.
They even go further and announce that players will be able to obtain the Battle Pass through a “series of easy in-game challenges” starting August 6, 2024.
Starting September 17, 2024, the Battle Pass will be available for 950 Apex Coins, as before. And you will also receive enough coins in the Battle Pass to buy future passes.
Because you are already wearing the penitent’s robe, you bow a little deeper to the players and address some of the constant criticisms:
We understand that we need to be timely, transparent, and consistent in our communication with you. Your priorities are our priorities too: cheaters, game stability, and quality of life updates come first. We still need to get better, and that’s why we’re acknowledging the issues here. As a next step, Season 22 will bring a number of game stability improvements and fixes, which will be detailed in the patch notes coming on August 5.
This is the reaction: The developers’ statement on Steam has 5,128 positive reviews and 1,427 comments.
How did players achieve this? The players have criticized Apex Legends so harshly on Steam that the current reviews have dropped to seven percent positive. You can read about exactly how the players managed to force EA and the poor developers of Apex Legends to give in in our article about the loud protests of the players: EA is getting too greedy with its cash cow shooter – now they are reaping the rewards of angry players on Steam
