Players share their biggest combat mishaps

What mistakes can happen? A post on Penguinmolester’s Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, titled What stupid mistakes do you keep making in combat?, has sparked a lively discussion in the community.

Thread starter Penguinmolester confessed that he constantly casts haste on his bard/warlock to attack four times in one turn. He then ruined everything by casting Curse, breaking his concentration for haste and effectively wasting his turn.

Many other players then joined in and shared their own strange or biggest combat mishaps. Here are some other mishaps that happened to players in battle:

  • sqbyboo writes: Most of the time I just don’t use the things. Sacks of potions, elixirs, grenades, coatings. I just forget/or don’t feel like it.
  • Ilosecrafyquowi77 points out: The amount of special bombs, arrows and potions that I never touch because I save them for later.
  • Fluffy-Tanuki writes: I try to hide several times before I realize I’m in a fully lit place, wasting my action and bonus action and being unable to do anything except end the turn.
  • Tony_stark_lives describes a simple but common mistake: I forget to get the first person through a door, and then no one comes through the door.
  • RevolutionaryTone276 experienced how clicking in the wrong place can change the course of a fight: attacking the ground and wasting an action when I really wanted to leave.
  • IndiGrimm is causing quite a stir in the group with Gale: the number of times I’ve destroyed my entire team with Fireball (because I foolishly made Gale a Necromancer instead of a Summoner) deserves its own statistic.
  • Finally, it should be noted that in Baldur’s Gate 3 the possibilities are almost endless, and mistakes are part of the fight. Whether it’s forgetting to use potions, overwriting concentration spells, or blowing up your own teammates with fireballs, each of these mistakes adds to the immersive and often humorous gameplay experience.
