Players buy content in Final Fantasy, don’t get anything, now the developers are entering

The developers of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles are now input because their players no longer have access to content for which they have paid. Your solution: the game is switched off.

What kind of game is that? Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is an action role-playing game that was originally published in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube and was reissued in 2020 as a remastered edition for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, iOS and Android.

The remastered edition lets you pull through different dungeons, fight against monsters and solve puzzles. Also new is the online multiplayer mode, in which you can play with up to three other players.

While Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles can be played free of charge, the game is financed by in-app purchases and DLCs that expand the game. But exactly these purchases have had no access to iOS since January, even though they have paid for it. Now the developers make a serious decision: the game is taken out of sale.

Square Enix pulls the plug

What problems were there? Since January 24, 2025, the developers of Square Enix have received complaints about their play by users who play on iOS. After buying in-app in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, you will probably not get any access to the acquired items and DLCs.

As Square Enix clarifies (via FinalFantasy.com), this also affects the paid version of the game, with which users should actually get access to all dungeons in the game.

How do the developers solve the problem? According to its own statements, the bug that causes these problems cannot be fully fixed. “The problem is due to changes to the model of in-app purchases”, the DEVS write in their statement on FinalFantasy.com. The developers have therefore decided to end the support for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles from iOS and remove the role -playing game from the App Store.

Do the players get their money back? Yes, all gamers’ purchases from January 2024 can be refunded. For this, however, users have to report to Apple Support independently and apply for reimbursement. If there are any problems, support can also help on Square-enix.com.

This decision primarily makes the gamers, which Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles can only play on one device with iOS. The role-playing game remains active on all other platforms and there are no complaints about broken in-app purchases.
