Players are trying to figure out who the nasty demon is in Diablo 4’s secret ending scene

Some skip the credits as soon as they’ve finished a game’s story, others let them run through in the hope of secret ending scenes. Diablo 4 rewards those who show perseverance. But who or what is shown in the scene?

What is shown in the scene? In a YouTube video, user AnActualSadTaco shows a “secret ending scene” that appeared to him after the Diablo 4 credits. There you can see a demonic figure for about 2 seconds.

The demon has glowing eyes and huge horns that protrude from the side of its head. He appears to be emerging from a lava-like liquid.

Mephisto, Lucion or Lilith?

Who do you see in the scene? This has not yet been clarified, but there are numerous speculations on social media. Several users comment on the AnActualSadTaco YouTube video.

Some have suggested that it is Mephisto, the father of Lilith, our antagonist in Diablo 4 – and the character whose choice of clothing is discussed. Others write that it can’t be Mephisto because his horns look very different and it’s too soon to return.

  • andrewspencer7804 writes: “The horns belong to Lucion. We’re on a mission to completely dismantle the ‘Family of Hate’.”
  • TLim-mr7ro writes: “Lucion son of Mephisto and brother of Lilith. He served as leader of the Triune during the War of Sins and resembles Mephisto. […] I think it’s still too early for Mephisto to return.”
  • truthmachine6382 suspects that the daughter of hate is behind it: “Honestly, it looks more like a close-up of Lilith’s face emerging from the blood-like lava fluid. These are not Mephisto’s horns, and the eyes, nose, and what resembles a side cheek horn pattern is 1 to 1 Lilith.”

But it could also be Inarius, Lilith’s partner in crime, with whom she created the new world of Sanctuary. This theory would be an interesting twist, and would give more presence to Inarius, which was missed by some players in Diablo 4 (via Icy Veins).

Icy Veins also doesn’t rule out the possibility of Lucion, Mephisto’s son and Lilith’s brother, returning. He was “erased” by Uldyssian, who had the ability to change things at will. What exactly happened to Lucion after being wiped out is unclear – as is his whereabouts.

Of course, it could also be a completely different, previously unknown demon. Or one that no one has thought of before.

“Unclear why some do not see the scene”

Does everyone see the scene? In his tweet, Blizzard artist Jamir Blanco writes, “It seems like some people are finally realizing that there’s a post-credit cutscene in our game…” behind it is a covering-finger-to-mouth emote and a devil emote. (via Twitter).

In another tweet, Jamir Blanco added: “Yes, the credits are really long… you can fast forward them […] It’s unclear why some people can’t see the post-credits scene… I’ll find out for you guys.”

AnActualSadTaco writes in a comment under his YouTube video: “I had them the first time [Durchspielen der Story] not.” Some have suggested that the brief scene following the conclusion of the story may have just passed them by.

You can play the credits again by clicking on “Contributors” in the (German) menu – but the end scene is missing. In order to be able to experience them, you would have to play through the story one more time.

Incidentally, the Diablo boss also advises you to do this, because it is worthwhile for your progress in the first season.

Did you have the ending scene? Or did she stay away from you? Tell us about it in the comments.
