Players are so refusing to torture Alexstrasza that Blizzard is now rewriting a quest ending

The next patch for World of Warcraft, “Cracks in Time”, is scheduled to be released in July 2023, but players discovered a quest on the public test servers whose content they didn’t like at all. They requested that the mission be rewritten or deleted. Blizzard has now responded to the criticism.

What quest is it about? On the public test servers, players can check out the 10.1.5 update and discover the quest “A Missing Soul”.

What was the criticism of the quest? In A Missing Soul, it should be the player’s job to ensure that the Demon Soul – a powerful artifact of Deathwing – is in its rightful place.

The demon soul was once used to imprison, torture, and fertilize the dragon queen, Alexstrasza, against her will. If the demon soul were no longer in place, Alexstrasza could have escaped and spared herself and her clan suffering. You should prevent that and travel back in time with Chromie.

So the players criticized the quest for saying it’s their job to make sure Alexstrasza is tortured and made to lay eggs against her will.

Blizzard rewrites controversial quest

How did Blizzard react? Shortly after the criticism, Blizzard stated that the development team wanted to remove the quest from the game, adapt it and publish it in a revised form.

The new version of the quest is now playable and is now called “A Mislaid Egg” instead of “A Missing Soul”.

What are you doing in the quest now? Your task is no longer to ensure that the demon soul is in place. Instead, you now need to place a red dragon egg in a specific location in Dun Algaz and ensure that the egg is discovered by Rhonin.

When Rhonin discovers the egg, it will trigger the events leading up to Alexstrasza’s rescue.
