Players are once again using the old trick that defeats bosses within a few seconds

In Destiny 2, the community is constantly looking for new ways to master the game’s challenges optimally and, above all, super quickly. A recent example of players’ creativity and determination to simplify activities is the revival of the legendary double shotgun DPS gimmick, which Bungie had already toned down.

Which glitch is back now? The double shotgun DPS glitch was Destiny 2’s dominant method of defeating raid bosses with exceptional speed 2 years ago.

The idea behind it is simple:

  • Players equip two shotguns.
  • You then fire them in quick succession, allowing you to melt bosses, especially raid bosses, in no time.
  • This was the key to efficiently defeating raid bosses in Bungie’s loot shooter for a long time, until the developer toned down this method.

However, many Guardians have not forgotten this method and have tried to bring it back again and again. In Season 22, the community has now managed to bring the glitch back to life. MeinMMO tells you how they did it.

One of the biggest DPS mistakes in Destiny 2 history

This is how the glitch was revived: The return of this weapon glitch has excited the Destiny 2 community. Also because many players still remember the glorious “Hotswap” days, when they could defeat raid bosses together with their shotguns in record time.

Now you once again have the opportunity to revive this glorious era or perhaps even experience it for the first time. As long as you don’t get your fingers knotted in the process.

To try it, however, you need Strand, the newest ability from the DLC “Lightfall”.

Only Strang was able to revive the old DPS glitch with double slug in Destiny 2.

Using the DPS option requires skillful use of the strand grappling hook as well as an animation cancel technique to enable quick weapon swapping.

  • You hold down the charged melee and then switch between the hanging grenade and the super ability one after the other.
  • This doesn’t deplete the grenade if you time it correctly, so you can essentially do the swap forever with any class.
  • The swap bug also seems to work with every weapon type in the game. However, slug shotguns are best suited for this.
  • Unlike grenade launchers, slug shotguns in the game have good ammo reserves and magazines.
  • Unlike fusion rifles, they fire instantly and aim quickly, something a sniper rifle cannot offer.
  • And thanks to their precision damage modifier, they also deal better damage than regular shotguns. Primarily against anything that has a weak point – basically every raid boss in Destiny 2.
  • The result is an impressively fast DPS method that allows players to easily defeat bosses in the game. You can see how quickly this change happens in this video from Saltagreppo:

Bosses can now be melted so incredibly quickly with shotguns again

Not everyone can use the glitch: However, there are also critics who consider the shotgun glitch to be too powerful and difficult to access to be game-breaking.

  • The player BawX! Commented under Saltagreppo’s video: “My poor hands will cry but I want to try.”
  • Ashes writes with amusement: “The only people who want it toned down are people who can’t. So 99.999999% of the player base.”
  • TrueVoltz says, “I love mastering things like this, but it’s just not feasible with the amount of input required on a controller unless you rebound everything.”
  • What does Bungie say about reactivating the glitch? Some players have already tagged Bungie under the video, with xHolidays demanding: “It’s time to tone this down. Way too strong. Take that out of the game, the salt is fun.”

Some players are wondering if Bungie will try to stop the glitch again or if they will tolerate players’ creative approach this time? However, the extent to which this glitch affects the game’s balancing will certainly be crucial.

But the Destiny team and BungieHelp Support are still silent about it. If that changes, we will of course publish an update in this article.

What do you think about the revival of the “double shotgun” DPS glitch in Destiny 2? Have you already had experience with this yourself? And how practical do you find the new method? Feel free to comment your opinion and experiences in the comments.
