Player works for weeks on the hardest achievement in WoW Classic

Although the bots in WoW Classic are very annoying, this player was apparently wrongly kicked out of the game. Just at a stupid time.

What happened to the player? On Reddit, a user writes that he was wrongly banned by Blizzard because they mistook him for a bot. He’s been grinding for the achievement The Madman for weeks, Shamm-Bamm explains. Luckily, after the Reddit post was published, Blizzard stepped in and unbanned the player. But he was frustrated at first.

We’ll show you how the story went.

16 hour ban for grinding – what was the problem?

What is this success? Completing the achievement “On the Brink of Madness” will reward you with the title “The Madman”. However, the achievement is arguably the hardest in the game considering the amount of time it takes to invest. You have to achieve the reputation status “Honoured” with different factions and “Exalted” with others.

It’s about factions like Booty Bay, Gadgetzan, Ratchet and also the Darkmoon Faire. You have to kill enemies for hours. Also, visiting dungeons is necessary to obtain items that can be exchanged for Darkmoon Faire reputation.

That was the problem: Ironically, the grinding of dungeons was probably a problem with Shamm-Bamm. The game probably mistook him for a bot as he kept running his character in and out of the instances and resetting them.

However, unlike bots, Shamm-Bamm did not use any automated processes, but played everything himself. Without using third-party software.

I’ve never violated the terms and conditions in this game and have been playing since Classic launched, it’s pretty ridiculous how that happens. I guess by resetting the dungeons [als Bot] got tagged or something. I remember seeing someone else post something similar while they [für diesen Erfolg] have farmed.

In his defence, the user shared some screenshots on Reddit that he took during his grind over the past few weeks. His guild could also confirm that the player did not bid. Because during his grind he communicated with them in guild chat and discord, he says.

Also, the ban came at an unfortunate time. He therefore had to cancel his raid that evening.

The happy ending: After about 16 hours, user Shamm-Bamm announced that he was unbanned. Presumably WoW’s anti-cheat system really just accidentally identified him as a bot. Because WoW Classic has been fighting wild bots for a long time.
