Sorceresses were previously considered one of the weakest classes in Diablo 4. But with Season 2, Blizzard has upped the ante and distributed buffs. Now the spellcasters have one of the strongest builds in the game, as a video impressively shows.
What kind of build is this?
This makes the build strong: The build is based on the fact that you cast the eponymous spell Ball Lightning. With the appropriate runes and legendary affixes, the balls then whir around you and cause damage.
The ultimate ability, Unstable Flow, also causes you to cast random spells whenever a shock ability is cast. To do this, the ball lightning build takes advantage of the new vampire powers from Season 2. Here he takes advantage:
The special thing about this is the Metamorphosis Pact, which generates mana. Although it is actually the “strongest” in the set, it is not leveled so that it is triggered more often. Your entire focus is on having lots of ball lightning that will roast the enemy in seconds.
Basically, you just stand next to enemies wearing a dress made of lightning and watch them die. So far, only barbarians who could kill opponents AFK have actually managed such absurd scenes.
The theme of Season 2 is vampires:
The Zonk from Season 1 is now really strong – players want it to stay that way
Many players are happy that sorceresses in particular now have an S-tier build. In Season 1 and before, the class was by far the worst and could hardly keep up with the other classes when it came to endgame content.
The big problem with the class was that only a few builds were actually playable due to the “vulnerable” mechanic accounting for the majority of the damage in the game. However, sorceresses could only do this reliably using certain ice spells.

Now, with the Vampiric Pacts, they can trigger the effect with any spell and have so much more choice in builds. Players, for example on Reddit, are happy about it and say: That’s how it should be. Not just one build, but many per class should be fun to build.
Diablo 4 is not a competitive game that requires meticulous attention to balance. If several classes and builds might go a bit overboard, that’s not a problem. In general, it looks like Season 2 is doing a lot right:
With Season 2, Diablo 4 dispenses with grind and showers you with loot – it’s now significantly faster
