Player says: If you like Diablo 4, you’ll get a kick out of the fans

The Diablo 4 community isn’t exactly easy: if you criticize the game, you have no idea. If you like the game, you are a casual and ignore the important problems. There is hardly anything in between. Fans are also increasingly noticing this.

This is what Diablo 4 says:

This is the criticism: The discussion about whether you can like Diablo 4 or not is as old as the game itself. In some cases it goes beyond that: even before its release, there was a dispute about whether you could even buy Diablo 4.

A player on Reddit is now criticizing the community’s ongoing behavior. He says the hostility and ridicule shown to those who like Diablo 4 is just “ridiculous.”

You can hardly express yourself without being addressed directly by someone. There is no longer any constructive criticism, only complaints and blunt “play bad” statements. As if to confirm it, another user writes: “I like Diablo 4” and receives corresponding replies (via Reddit).

Player says: “I like Diablo 4” – This is an example of the problem

The reactions in the second thread are as criticized by the critics. It goes something like this: “Most people have already quit. But you’re right, those who still play probably like it.” We’re talking about echo chambers.

However, the emotions go both ways. The community is wondering, at least on Reddit, what such posts are even about. It’s no longer about criticism or discussions, just about liking or hating. User TraiLDawG420 aptly describes:

“They want the game to fail to confirm their position. It frustrates them when people like the game. In modern gaming it is [ein Spiel] either a garbage can fire or the messiah of gaming.”

In response to the comment that most people don’t play anymore, others say: That’s normal. Very few people would play a game for 400 hours or more. Even the developers say: if you don’t feel like it anymore, stop.

Another user jumps in and shows, based on player numbers, that many fans still play Diablo (via activeplayer.io). Only the discussions are slowly dying out: casuals gamble, they don’t post on Reddit.

Why are so many people arguing about Diablo 4? Diablo is an ancient brand and has caused enthusiasm with its innovative ideas since the first part in 1996. Since then, the series has become an absolute cult, with a large fan base.

After Diablo 3, Blizzard took a break from broadcasting for many years. The next announcement was Diablo Immortal with the biggest scandal in the history of BlizzCon. The fans were angry.

When Diablo 4 finally came out, 11 years after Diablo 3, hopes were high. Fans expected a blockbuster that would probably never live up to expectations – especially compared to Diablo 3, which took 11 years to mature. There are a lot of emotions associated with a game like Diablo that players can’t always contain.
