Player ruins his honor run, but doesn’t realize it until 3 days later

A player in Baldur’s Gate 3 ruined his honor run, but didn’t realize it until a few long rests later. MeinMMO tells you what’s behind it.

What is Honor Mode? In Baldur’s Gate 3, Honor Mode is a tough challenge that will put you to the test. Every mistake, no matter how small, can destroy your run. Save-scumming is not an option, and the bosses have powerful Legendary Actions that present you with great challenges.

A player on Reddit ventured into the solo Honor Run with the goal of testing himself and his skills in the toughest possible way. Everything was going great for him until he met the fishmen with Gale.

Better not sacrifice Gale

How did he ruin his run? Player mc_lil_bizz recruited Gale, but mostly for the extra experience, leaving him in camp most of the time. When he finally arrived at the BOOOAL, he made a momentous decision: he decided to sacrifice Gale because he found him annoying and wanted the buff.

If you make a BOOOAL sacrifice, one of your companions dies and remains permanently dead. In compensation, you receive a permanent buff that gives you advantage on attack rolls against bleeding targets.

But he probably didn’t expect the consequences. He calmly continued playing his honor run – with the feeling that everything was fine.

Ticking time bomb

What happened then? Gale’s projection will appear to you and will ask you to revive him within 2 days (2 long rests). He warns you urgently: many lives depend on him returning to the living.

But he cannot be revived by BOOAL and remains permanently dead. On the third day there is an explosion due to the destruction ball in his chest. So it explodes, killing and destroying everything – ciao, honor run.

What’s BOOOAL all about? You can meet and interact with the Kuo-Toa in a hidden location in the Underdark (X: 75, Y: -240) to become the Fish God. The Kuo-Toa created their god named BOOOAL, who is actually an ordinary redcap. However, through worshiping the Kuo-Toa, he has become a lot stronger.

You also have the opportunity to convince the Kuo-Toa that BOOOAL is not a real god through successful skill checks. If you then defeat him, you can be made a god by the Kuo-Toa. Another option is to fight for BOOOAL. As a reward you will receive a sickle with the same effect as the previously mentioned buff – but the buff is tied to the weapon.
