Player reaches level 100 in Path of Exile’s most difficult mode, playing 14 hours a day for 3 months

In Path of Exile, the first player to reach maximum level with their character in the game’s most difficult mode. Nobody managed to do that for two years.

What kind of mode is this? In Path of Exile, in addition to the normal game modes, there are other variants with very special rules. One of them is Ruthless Mode, a mode that is extremely stressful for players because many systems are unavailable.

There is also much less loot and much less experience points for players. A unique item drop can be celebrated there like a small lottery win. Quests give fewer rewards in Ruthless mode, you can no longer buy support gems and other endgame systems are switched off.

As strenuous as playing in such a mode is, the success of a player who has managed to reach the maximum level within 3 months of starting is all the more significant.

Path of Exile 2 will continue soon, you can see the trailer here:

How did he do that? The player Noodleshredder played his character “unlagskin” in Ruthless mode to the maximum level 100 in just 93 days. The hours of play that he invested in this are particularly impressive.

Noodleshredder invested a whopping 54 days of net playing time in the 93 days. That’s an average of 14 hours per day in which his character was online. While it’s impossible to say how many hours the character just stood around without being played, the amount of time the character was leveled is significant.

How does the community react to the achievement? The community is happy for the player and celebrates his achievement. In Path of Exile, it is always announced when the first player reaches a level with their character, so Noodleshredder received a corresponding number of “GG” and “GZ” posts, as can be seen in the video on YouTube.

What makes leveling so difficult? Not only does the fact that you get fewer experience points make leveling in Ruthless mode slower, but the restrictions in the endgame also ensure this.

The low drop rates ensure that monsters hardly drop new maps and tougher opponents become rarer. The restrictions also make the characters weaker.

A usual run like in a normal league is therefore not possible. Many players stop leveling up their characters at around level 80. The mode is probably intended primarily for fans of Diablo 2 for whom Path of Exile is too easy: Path of Exile is too hard for many newcomers, but is now even more difficult – “You have to be a little masochistic”
