Player lists the worst things you can do to each companion

You can play Baldur’s Gate 3 almost any way you want and even have the option to be bitter. One player wants to take it to the extreme and shows you how to get the most evil out of just one pass. But for some that’s not enough…

Spoiler warning: Here we go into the stories and fates of all the companions in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you don’t know the personal stories yet, you will be spoiled here.

What are these things? The user lalo___cura has compiled a list of things on Reddit that seal the worst fate for Shadowheart, Lae’zel and Co. Important: you have to play as an evil Dark Urge and can do everything in one go.

The idea is to maximally injure the companions’ souls, similar to the ultimate betrayal of Shadowheart – only for all companions. A little warning: some of these fates are really, really bad:

Lae’zel

Corrupt them one larva at a time until they become part-illithid in hopes of freeing the Githyanki. Then let them watch the Emperor slurp up Orpheus’s brains.

Shadowheart

Help her kill Viconia and free her parents before selling her to the Shar worshipers. Alternatively: kill her parents.

Astarion

Give him to the Gur so they can take him to Cazador. There he is skinned alive and sacrificed.

Gael

Kill him and use his body as a weapon. Gale is a walking magical bombshell. Revive him every now and then so that he doesn’t blow up the whole world.

Wyll

Romance him and make him believe you’ll be together forever. Convinces him to sell his soul to Mizora to save his father. Then sleep with Mizora and kill his father.

Karlach

Let her become a mind flayer to destroy her soul – or just kill her, which will at least give you a fancy robe as a reward.

Halsin

Let Minthara raid the grove without helping – otherwise Wyll and Karlach will leave you. Then kill Art Cullaugh, but leave Halsin alive so that he is alone in the world and can never defeat the Shadow Curse.

Minthara

Let the absolutists break their spirit in Act 2.

Jaheira

Destroy the inn and make them think it was an accident. Convince her that you can resist the Dark Desire, take her to the Murderer’s Tribunal and sacrifice her.

Minsc

Take him with you and let him watch Jaheira die. Then kill his hamster, then himself.

As a bonus, you can mutilate the brain companion “Us”, leave the owlbear cub to be tortured by the goblins, and leave Scratch to the nasty trainer in Baldur’s Gate. Alternatively, you can let scratch die, which triggers special dialogues with the companions.

To loosen things up, a little bear sex to lift the mood:

“That’s infinitely worse.”

In the comments on the thread, some users find other, far worse ideas for tormenting their companions. However, some of them cannot be completed in the same go. These include, for example:

  • Let Karlach become a mind flayer and then ram a knife into her back (and face) at the crucial moment.
  • You can get Minsc to kill Jaheira himself – a woman he has accompanied for decades. If you kill Minsc yourself, his hamster Boo appears to mourn. You can kill him too.
  • Jaheira also has children who are…well, mortal. You know what to do.
  • If you lure Minthara into your bed, you can kill her yourself right after sex, after she opens up to someone for the first time in decades.
  • There are probably other, really nasty ways to hurt your companions (and more). For some of them, death would be even more pleasant than what you can do with them.

Why should I even be angry? An evil walkthrough through Baldur’s Gate 3 rarely happens because the player himself is profoundly evil, but more out of curiosity. People want to see what is possible.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is considered a masterpiece in which Larian really thought of everything. Since the acting of the voice actors is celebrated by almost everyone, players simply want to know which scenes they miss if they are “just good”.

However, many people find it difficult to be truly evil. Understandable, but it can still be worth it:
