Anyone who is banned in World of Warcraft will try to avoid this in the future. The solution? An add-on that prevents the ban because you cannot commit any shameful act.
Anyone who travels online needs a thick skin. Whether in forums or games like World of Warcraft, every now and then you come across fellow players who don’t quite have themselves under control and throw insults around each other. That’s annoying enough, but fortunately such violations are often punished.
On the other side, the punished sit and have to deal with their account ban or figure out how to be a better person next time.
The solution: You simply program an add-on that prevents you from using bad words.
Who is the addon from? Grayvves introduced this addon in the WoW subreddit. According to his own statements, he made the add-on after he was repeatedly banned from WoW for insults. In his short introduction video you can see that his account has been blocked for more than 10 days – you have to use a lot of tone for that.
What kind of addon is this? The addon is called “Be Nice” and you can download it on various addon platforms, such as CurseForge. Once installed, the addon basically monitors everything you want to enter in the chat – regardless of the channel. If you use a swear word while typing, the add-on will tell you “Be Nice!” and won’t send the message. If you still want to send the text after the warning, you can add an exception to deliberately bypass the filter.
This is how the community reacts: If you look at the corresponding post in the WoW subreddit, the reaction is quite divided. Some think it’s good that he’s using the time off due to the account suspension to actually make an improvement. Others, on the other hand, don’t understand why people get banned for using swear words in the first place, because “it’s not that hard to not use them in the first place.”
At the same time, some people also doubt the usefulness of this add-on. Because people who are prone to insults and are generally considered “toxic players” would probably not even use this add-on.
