Many Pokémon players form a special bond with the little pocket monsters. For one gamer, that bond was so strong that he spared no expense or effort to bring his old friend back.
What was that rescue operation? Reddit user u/Rxyaschao shared the reunion with his beloved Charizard on June 6th. That had been stranded in Pokémon Colosseum for the GameCube for the last 15 years.
With the latest update to Pokémon HOME, players have now been able to bring their old companion to Paldea in Crimson/Crimson (via 3D Juegos).
What makes the Pokemon so special? Ironically, Charizard doesn’t actually need such a rescue. Because the final development of Charmander, the fire starter from generation 1, he could have procured much easier.
However, Roxaschao didn’t want just any Charizard, but exactly what he had played through the FireRed Edition with back then.
Coach says: “I don’t regret it”
This is how he did it: Roxaschao has spared no expense or effort to bring his faithful companion into the latest generation.
To accomplish this, the faithful trainer bought a supposedly broken 2DS and a damaged DSlite, as well as other equipment that he was able to repair himself. Despite these measures, Roxaschao still paid just under $340, the equivalent of just over €315, to get his Charizard back.
The Reddit user spread the whole endeavor over about a year. He also used this time to catch up on the game generations that he had skipped at the time.
Even if he realized afterwards that he could have saved money with hacks or a custom operating system, he doesn’t regret it, says Roxaschao. In view of the current development, the prices for the old hardware and software would tend to continue to rise.
In the comments, some Reddit users are already making rescue plans for their own stranded Pokémon, while others regret their pocket monsters that were deleted with a broken edition.
