There is currently a bad mood in Once Human, triggered by a bug and the subsequent reaction of the developers. Their “bug fix” resulted in players being banned, some of whom had invested hundreds of hours and dollars in the multiplayer game.
What happened? MeinMMO had already reported on October 26, 2024 that Once Human players had complained about login problems and the temporary loss of characters. Apparently there was an exploit that allowed players to get double the amount of real money currency.
The stolen amount of real money currency later disappeared again, causing several accounts to suddenly have a negative balance. According to Once Human’s terms of use, such access can be blocked until the account has been balanced. Is that why players were no longer able to play the game? There were no official statements from the developers or concrete evidence of this.

What is the current status? Mystikx’s post on Reddit now confirms and expands on some of the previous assumptions – supported by screenshots from the game, support tickets, the official Discord and the ban notification from the developers. Here are the most important findings:
His main character was permanently banned from Once Human. So far, he had invested around 400 hours and just over $333. The player can still log in on all other characters.
When he filed a first ticket to appeal the ban, he was told that he had violated the terms of service (but not in what form). The ticket response mentions that the character was muted. Well, even banned characters are mute in their own way.
According to the player, the ban came after he received a message saying that 3,140 Crystgins would be deducted from his account. After that, the account balance was -1,190 Crystgins.
Although all of this is said to have been caused by a bug from the developers, the player would have been willing to invest more dollars in the game to balance the account. However, since he cannot even log in with the affected character, this is apparently not possible.
When asked via the official Discord, the player was told that there was no ban status at all for the affected character.
The player was informed of something similar via in-game support. However, he was still unable to log in with the said character – and every time he tried, he received the message that his character was permanently banned.
Instead, a second character of mystikx was banned a day later. The player had also spent a few dollars on Crystgin on this one. The only character still available now is the one that no money has been invested in yet.
In the next step, the affected person contacted Steam himself to arrange a refund of all the money spent to date by providing all Steam transaction IDs. A corresponding message was sent to Once Human support.
His case was then investigated again. The result: He was said to have shown abnormal behavior in the game and was therefore banned.
In a later message, he was informed that he had been caught using a cheat 15 times on August 19 and 20. Strangely, the character in question had already been banned on those days.
On August 22nd, mystikx was kicked from the developers’ official Discord channel after sharing his experiences so far with the rest of the community.
From here on, the other updates (19 in total) and screenshots from mystikx go in circles. Although the Reddit post linked above was able to stir up quite a bit of dust, the developers still refuse to give a concrete, understandable reason for the ban, nor to revoke it or to approach the affected player in any other way.
What about other victims of the bug? A second post on Reddit clearly shows that many other players are affected. Bitter: Although the complaints of those affected are more than a week old, the operators of Once Human remain silent.
