The new houses for characters in World of Warcraft are probably coming sooner than planned. It should start as early as 2025 – the roadmap is now clear.
The plans for World of Warcraft were presented at Warcraft Direct a few days ago. The biggest innovation was probably the announcement of the long-awaited “Player Housing”. In the future, the heroes of Azeroth will be able to build their own home and finally have a place to recover from their adventures.
The feature will start with the next expansion “Midnight”. But now it has become clear: This will probably be the case as early as 2025.
The teaser for housing can be seen here:
The next add-on for WoW could come in 2025
Where does the information come from? Blizzard published the roadmap for 2025 a few days ago. This extends from winter 2024 to winter 2025. A small, cryptic symbol has been inserted in the same place where “Legion Remix” is expected to begin. A hearthstone rune that roughly looked like a house.
After much speculation, Blizzard has revised the roadmap again and has now clearly replaced the symbol with a house symbol. This makes it clear: the housing feature will probably arrive at the beginning of winter 2025.
What does this mean for Midnight? Since the housing feature is part of the next add-on “Midnight”, this provides clarity about the release of the next expansion or rather the big “pre-patch 12.0”. This would also have to start in December 2025 at the latest so that the housing feature can go live. That in turn would mean that Midnight will have its official release either in December 2025 or in January or February 2026 – significantly earlier than many expected.
Are there any concerns? Yes, there are. Strictly speaking, “Winter 2025” in its entirety extends into 2026, so the roadmap can also be interpreted conservatively. However, since the symbol appears right at the beginning of winter 2025, it is obvious that – just like now with patch 11.0.7 – it also means the current year.
Additionally, there is some concern in the community that Housing could get some sort of “early access,” such as a bonus to pre-ordering Midnight. Then only some of the players could enjoy the feature as early as Christmas 2025, while the rest have to wait for the release of Midnight. But that too would probably be bearable.
But it is also clear that the plans are still a thing of the future and exactly that: plans. These can certainly change over the next year. But World of Warcraft is currently delivering regularly and is able to stick to its targeted schedules. We want to know from you which features housing absolutely needs – tell us what you think!
