A player of The First Descendant has to resort to ignominious means to play the game with his friend. Only by lying can his friend be persuaded to play the campaign together.
Which player is it about? Reddit user MMXXIV-VII-II says in a post on Reddit that he really enjoys The First Descendant and that he therefore plays the shooter extensively. He is one of those players who enjoys the game despite some criticisms.
He enjoys the game even more in co-op mode. He wanted to play the campaign with a good friend. However, there was a problem. The friend in question has very limited time. Because of his relationship with his partner, he only has around 30-60 minutes of play time available each day. He only wants to spend the little time he has on games that he has “discovered himself”.
So Reddit user MMXXIV-VII-II waited until his friend discovered the game for himself. Then the two started playing the campaign together. What the friend didn’t know was that he was the victim of a lie that was necessary to get him to play.
Is a white lie okay?
What was the lie? The friend thought he had discovered The First Descendant first and showed it to his friend. In reality, however, the user MMXXIV-VII-II had known about the game for a long time. As he writes in his Reddit post, he had been looking forward to the shooter and had been waiting for it for a long time.
Of course, he didn’t want to wait until his friend discovered the game himself, so he started playing. And he had plenty of fun. He has an impressive 15 characters, most of whom are already at the maximum level of 40.
But his friend was not allowed to know that. It would have destroyed his motivation immediately, so MMXXIV-VII-II resorted to a white lie. He claimed to only be playing one character – the one from the joint co-op session. This character is at level 26, and thus on the same level as his friend’s character.
This keeps the other player motivated and having fun playing the game. MMXXIV-VII-II admits on Reddit that he lied so that he could continue playing The First Descendant outside of co-op sessions. He simply enjoys the game too much to only play a few hours a week.
What does the community think? MMXXIV-VI-II is aware of his actions and writes: “Does this make me a bad person? Probably.”
