In Diablo 4, players are always looking for secrets and the best way to get good loot. One fan has now apparently combined both and swears stone and bone: if you follow the rats, you’re guaranteed to get Legendarys. Now thousands of players are following the rodents.
What’s up with the rats?
You need Legendaries for your perfect build. You can find the best Diablo 4 builds in our Tier List
How does that work? Reddit user zerger45 has made the claim that rats lead him to good loot like a nose to cheese. In dungeons, you shouldn’t concentrate on the given path at all.
Instead, it is much better to see where the little rodents are going. Rats are almost everywhere, but you have to be careful not to miss them or even accidentally kill them.
zerger45 swears he found tons of Legendaries in 10 minutes this way. The rats show him which opponents have loot with them. He then kills them and collects the orange pieces.
If you want more chances of looting, be sure to check out the many basements in the game:
“I followed the rats”
The post has garnered over 8,400 likes and over 570 comments in a short amount of time. More players respond, posting screenshots of loot they claim to have found from rats.
Others try to resist but fail and give in to the temptation to try it too. One even claims to have found one of the most sought-after uniques for the Necromancer:
Since then, rats have been a tip for anyone who complains about not getting enough loot. The motto is always: “Just follow the rats.” Sometimes the discussions are even torn from the actual topic in order to get to the rats.
In addition, conspiracy theories have formed. For example, that “rats”, the English word for rats, turns out to be “star” and is somehow related to the STARS from Resident Evil. There are zombies there too. Don’t think about it too much please…
Does that really work? That’s hard to imagine. Loot drops in Diablo 4 basically everywhere and usually often. It is quite possible that a group of opponents to which a rat runs has Legendarys with them.
However, the fact that rats run specifically to such opponents or increase the chances of looting does not sound particularly plausible. Then again, it’s Blizzard who put all sorts of weird easter eggs in their games.
The whole discussion has now caused the community to take a closer look at the whole rat topic. So much so that at times she thinks more of a secret rat level than the legendary cow level she’s been looking for:
