Player becomes all-powerful in WoW, defeats raid boss alone, wins the MMORPG – Blizzard reacts

Blizzard promised with WoW Classic that with WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria they would do a few things differently than they did 12 years ago: players should be able to become overpowering. But people underestimated what this looks like in reality: By exploiting a “hyperspawn” and a new upgrade system for equipment, individual players in the MMORPG became so powerful after just a few hours that they could defeat raid bosses on their own.

How powerful did players become in WoW? Posts are circulating in the Reddit forum on Pentecost Sunday and you can see videos on YouTube in which individual players cause incredibly high damage in WoW and are practically invincible while the rest of their raids “play normally”:

  • The monk Xastralts does 2.74 million damage in a screenshot – 10 times more than the runner-up in the raid (via reddit).
  • In a video by Twitch streamer Asmongold, the shadow priest Pibottwo even achieved 20 times more damage than the runner-up in his raid.
  • At level 70, the night elf priest can even defeat a raid boss alone when the rest of his raid is dead and get the big achievements. Twitch streamer Asmongold says: “The guy – he beat the game.”

A new upgrade system is completely out of control for Blizzard

How did players become so powerful? WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria Remix introduced a system that was not present in the original Mists of Pandaria, which was released in September 2012:

Players use “hyperspawn” frogs to become powerful extremely quickly

That was the problem: In Mists of Pandaria 12 years ago, there were so-called “hyperspawns”, areas where killing a mob inevitably resulted in a new mob spawning.

This allowed players with area skills to kill extremely many mobs in a short period of time and thus level up quickly.

This spot became known as “Frogs,” a spawn in the Timeless Isles – precisely because the corresponding mobs are frogs.

This location still exists today in WoW, as the new version of Mists of Pandaria went live.

As wowhead writes, players in Mists of Pandaaria Remix 2024 were able to farm “Lesser Charms of Good Fortune”, which in turn could be exchanged for bronze and upgrade their equipment so quickly that they could basically complete the raids solo.

That is the consequence: With the new bronze system, with the release of WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, individual players were now able to farm these “frogs” extremely, collect bronze, and upgrade their items to a level that Blizzard apparently did not foresee so quickly and then become all-powerful gods in the game.

According to reports from players on reddit, some WoW players took extreme advantage of the spawn for many hours before going into raids with their guilds and suddenly doing 10 times more damage than anyone else.

Twitch streamer Asmongold reports on the incident and shows the all-powerful Warlock:

    Blizzard nerfs the mega spawn

This is how Blizzard reacts: After individual players attracted attention with extremely high damage values in the raids, Blizzard nerfed the “Frog Farm” in WoW Remix on Sunday morning; the necessary loot for the item upgrade no longer drops there.

Bronze is still available there, but the Lesser Charms that are necessary for the exploit are no longer available.

Players are jealous of the few who pulled it off

This is the reaction: Players on the forums are now angry that they missed out on the opportunity to become all-powerful themselves and are demanding that Blizzard increase the drop tenfold everywhere else so they can catch up with what the few who took full advantage of “Frogs” have achieved : They also want to become all-powerful and play through WoW.

Anyone who hasn’t used the spawn is at a “significant disadvantage,” it says in the forums.

This is what lies behind it: In a world of all-powerful gods, no one wants to be normal. The question is whether Blizzard will react here and reset progress or make it easier for everyone else to reach god level.

Our WoW demon Cortyn has already dealt with WoW Remix in advance and highly praised Blizzard’s new ideas: WoW Remix is a stroke of genius and the best thing Blizzard could do
