Played padel for 50 hours straight – raised money for the fight against suicide

Pontus Håkansson managed to play 33 games over the weekend without sleeping. He is doing it to raise money for the organization Suicide Zero.

– I work in the emergency room in Malmö and often see how people don’t get help. My cousin took her own life a few years ago. Friends of friends – there are many in my vicinity. This is why this is very close to his heart, he says.

“Feels like a bad drunk”

Pontus Håkansson has arranged similar events in previous years, but never as long as 50 hours.

– Everything hurts, it feels like a bad hangover, he says when SVT Nyheter Skåne meets him at the final stage.

How do you look?

– There are pictures here in the hall of people who have died by suicide, I have my cousin as a tattoo on my arm. That’s justification enough. When things are tough, it’s easy to think of them and fight on, says Pontus Håkansson.

In the clip above, Pontus Håkansson tells us what it’s like to play padel for 50 hours without sleep.
