In question: the potential presence of pieces of plastic in the pasta…

Whether you prefer “farfalle”, “coquillettes” or “spaghetti”, you may have them at home… “Quick cooking” pasta from the Panzani brand has been the subject of a recall in France, reported the interministerial government website Reminder.Conso.gouv on Friday April 12, 2024. The cause of this recall: the possible presence of foreign bodies resembling a piece of transparent plastic in the packages. As a precaution and due to the risk of injury and adverse effects following the ingestion of this product, it is strongly recommended that people who have products belonging to the batches listed above do not (or no longer at all) consume, return them to the point of sale where they were purchased for a refund or throw them in the trash. Here is the contact number to ask what to do or to ask any questions you may have: 09 70 80 91 15. The end date for reimbursement requests has been set for June 12, 2024.

The recalled batches of pasta are as follows (see photo of the package on the right):

  • MACARONI “3 minutes” 500g QUICK COOK barcode number 231217N641 – Minimum durability date 01/12/2026
  • MACARONI “3 minutes” 500g QUICK COOKING bar code number 231217N642 – Minimum durability date 01/12/2026

These pastes were on the store shelves of several brands such as Auchan, Système U, Galec (Leclerc group) and Intermarché from January 3, 2024 to March 7, 2024 throughout France, according to the “recall” sheet available on the site.

For information, this recall is “voluntary” (without a prefectural order), it was therefore carried out as a precautionary measure. However, without giving in to panic, there may be health risks if we consume them. The risks incurred by the consumer are considered “inert” according to the official dangerous products recall portal. This means that these materials can represent a danger if ingested and cause respiratory complications or digestive inflammation.
