The venture at Marviken which the newspaper Näringslivet first told about should be part of an energy cluster that also includes the production of sustainable aviation fuel, which we told about last week.
The government opened last week to facilitate and speed up the expansion of nuclear power in Sweden. Niclas Adler is positive about the development and says that he also feels support from the municipal management when it comes to building nuclear power plants.
At Marviken, there were plans to build a nuclear power plant in the 1960s, but in 1970 the government decided to cancel the project. Instead, an oil-fired boiler was built and the facility became part of the Swedish power reserve. In 2009, a decision was made to close down and the entire plant was sold in 2018.
