A student at a primary school in a town outside Värnamo planned earlier this year to carry out a school shooting – but a fire alarm prevented the act.
The student himself must then have gone to an adult at the school and told them about the plans, according to a case with the School Inspectorate.
The school shooting was planned for a day in the spring of 2024 and the child had brought both clothes and weapons to be able to carry out the act. However, the planned shooting happened never since a fire alarm was triggered in the primary school’s premises on the same day.
According to the student’s own information, he must be part of a criminal network. The child has told staff at the school about various events he has been a part of. Among other things, the student allegedly intended to carry out a school shooting against other students and staff at his school, and pointed out intended targets for the act.
Police were called to the school
In connection with the student telling an adult at the school about the plans, some time after the planned shooting, the police were called to the scene as it was not possible to ensure that the young person did not have a weapon on him at the time. A plainclothes policeman came and took the student into custody.
The school inspectorate received information about the incident from the Work Environment Agency on August 27 and has now initiated an inspection case by Värnamo municipality.
