On video clips from the concert, Molko can be heard shouting “Giorgia Meloni, piece of shit, fascist, racist” in Italian.
The crime in question is called “contempt against the institutions” and according to Italian law, anyone who publicly humiliates the republic, which also includes the government, parliament, courts and the army, can be sentenced to a fine of up to 5,000 euros, equivalent to roughly 57 thousand kroner.
Giorgia Meloni, who represents the nationalist right-wing party Brothers of Italy, took office last year and is the country’s first female prime minister.
