Piteå got involved in the gold battle after knocking out Norrköping

– Those were important points and the only thing we were thinking about was getting the three points then we had to see if we wanted to. It wasn’t very well played, but we’re tight to it and don’t offer anything, says Piteå’s Fanny Andersson to Viaplay.

Now the chance of being able to reach the gold is not so great, but it is still there in theory, but the greater the chance is of being able to reach a qualifying place for the Champions League for Piteå, who are now fourth in the table.

At the end of the first half, Norrköping’s Chelsie Dawber was hit in the head by a hard ball when Piteå’s goalkeeper Shannon Woeller cleared away. She received treatment and was able to leave the field on her own, but had to stop the match after that knock.

The winning goal came early in the match. Norrköping did not have a scoring chance the entire match in the wind and cold.

“Maybe the goalkeeper got a little confused”

After a quarter of an hour, Katrina Guillou, World Cup player for the Philippines, stepped forward together with Asla Johannessen and fired the ball into the goal, but was it meant to be a finish or a failed pass?

– All strikers will say they want to score. It was about getting the ball into the dangerous area. We had some quick passes and maybe the goalkeeper got a little confused but that was the plan, yes, smiles Guillou.

In the middle of the second half, Piteå’s shooting queen Anam Imo fell in a melee, her right knee ended up in a suspicious twist, and her teammates held their breath for a couple of minutes before she could return to the game.

She was substituted with four regular minutes remaining to play, limping afterward with a bandaged knee.

It was Piteå’s first away win since June 25.
