Pitbull puppy saved for life after overdose in Irvine

On Thursday, the police in the US California conducted a check on two people who were suspected of drug possession. The two people were arrested in a parking lot next to the Walmart store in the Irvine area.

When the police were to check the people’s car, an eight-week-old pit bull puppy was found. Police discovered that the puppy was exposed to the drug fentanyl and that she began to show signs of an overdose.

– Her tongue was hanging out of her mouth and her eyes were closed, says police officer Karie Davies.

Man and woman suspected of crime

The police themselves have shared videos from the operation. Because the puppy reacted strongly to the drugs, the police were forced to give the pet a dose of the antidote naloxone.

The dog was rushed to a veterinarian for emergency treatment.

“We are happy to report that the dog is making a full recovery, and our animal services unit will be caring for her,” police said of the operation in a statement.

The two people, a man and a woman, are now suspected of gross animal cruelty and drug possession.

“We thank the police for their quick action,” the police write.
