Pirates of the Caribbean star had a dreadful time on set and only stayed for money

Pirates of the Caribbean star had a dreadful time on

In addition to interesting screenplays, Hollywood productions often attract many stars with big money. The British theater and film actor Bill Nighy now openly admitted that. In the Pirates of the Caribbean series with Johnny Depp he was seen from part 2 in the role of the iconic villain Davy Jones. At least if you put him behind the CGI costume complete with a massive tentacle beard ever recognized.

Now, in a recent video, Nighy has opened up about his biggest roles and Background to his Pirates of the Caribbean period revealed. Only the money is said to have kept him on the set.

Davy Jones actor Bill Nighy doesn’t look back happily on Pirates of the Caribbean filming

In the Vanity Fair video about his most famous roles, Nighy also opens up about his time on the Pirates of the Caribbean set. Here he first assumed that he was slipping into a real villain’s costume. Instead, he had to condense his Davy Jones scenes into one Motion capture suit play, which he himself calls “computer pyjamas”:

Then when I got there I didn’t realize that I wouldn’t have a costume like everyone else. So I actually called the costume department and said, ‘Is my costume coming soon?’ They said, ‘Didn’t anyone tell you that?’ I said, ‘Tell me what?’ Turns out I had to wear white computer pajamas. Bullets everywhere and one Skull cap with a bullet on top and 250 points on my face and painted my sneakers… with a bullet on top! Then they introduce you to Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. If you’ve ever felt lonely, you really are now.

Nighy adds that back then he kept walking the set and in my mind “the money” said to himself:

I was there for the money. People didn’t want to have lunch with me; it was too sad. Crew members said, ‘Hey. Hi. Hi’ and they would just walk away. Because it was just too sad to see this late middle-aged man dressed up as someone who didn’t get accepted into Devo.

After the unpopular fifth part and the controversy surrounding Johnny Depp, the Future of Pirates of the Caribbean series still unclear. As a last update, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that from the two finished screenplays, first an ensemble part and then a film about Margot Robbie should be realized.
